THE QUARRIES


Two quarries in Gylsboda offer striking open landscapes carved from deep-black diabase, reflecting the village’s long tradition of stone craftsmanship. The now-defunct diabase quarry serves as a recreation hub with swimming, hiking, and a sculpture park surrounding it. The other is functional producing diabase for distribution.
